The Manyness of Nothingness...
This is just a random muttering of my thought about the creation of the Cosmos from nothing - and a few mathematical arguments to back them up... Hopefully some of this will make some sense...
Ain (0) - This is representative of the primal chaos. It is the Apsu - or primal waters... This however - is a misnomer, as nothing has yet to become something, and as yet does not even have the potential to be something...
In thelemic circles - Ain is analogous to Hadit - the infinitely small yet omnipresent point. The mathematical concept of the singularity applies to this idea. A point has no length width nor depth - yet it does have existence by virtue of position. Thus, zero can be said to have existence because we call it zero. And anything that can be named is something... Kind of...
Mathematically - zero is generated by the equation 0 = 0/n - where n is any number that is not zero.
Ain Soph ( 00 - or the lemniscate ) - Ain Soph means (without limit...), it is the opposite of Ain (mathematically - as you will see) and is its complement. To a qabalist - it is no coincidence that the number 00 looks a lot like the lemniscate (or infinity sign...).
In thelemic circles - Ain Soph is Nox or Nuit. Who represents the infinte or cosmic...
Mathematically - Ain Soph is generated by the formula 00 = n/0. As you can see, the fraction n/0 is the complement of 0/n. Similarly - the next two numbers are generated from fractions using 0 and n as you will see...
Ain Soph Aur ( 000 - the Limitless Light ) - This has to be the most interesting of the aspects of the facets of non-existence. Why? Because for one thing - 000 is the only aspect that does not have a counterpart in mathematics. Or does it???
If I skip to the A'aTz ChIIM - Kether is represented by the number 1 - being Godhead (or the Tao). The number 1 is generated by the equation 1 = n/n. So that leaves me with one possible combination of fractions using n & 0.
Thus - Ain Soph Aur has only one possible fraction it can be. 000 = 0/0. Whoa! Ai carumba! Something wrong here... 0/0? Well, from one point of view - if you attribute the value "x" to 0 you can generate the equation x/x. Well, that's easy to solve, isn't it??? Any number divided by itself it 1, right??? Of course, but for the fact that you shouldn't be able to divide a number by zero without generating infinity... So what is 000 then???
My theory??? 000 is the imaginary number "i". Why "i"??? Well aside from the fact that the existence of the number (which is defined as the square-root of -1) also lends proof to the equation 0=1 - i is also "weighted" the same as the number 1, thus the definition of i = 0/0 seems valid to me...
In a sense - this would make the Ain Soph Aur the "other" side - or the world of imagination. To the thelemites - Ain Soph Aur is Hoor-par-kraat, the light the shineth from within. I personally see no problem with equating light and imagination. In fact - that is what may be occuring when we are "illuminated" from within...
